‘Minority Report’ software is here!

By | July 25, 2012, 9:20 AM PDT

Do you remember that scene in ‘Minority Report’ where Tom Cruise’s character analyzes videos on a large screen using only the movements of his hands?

That was my favorite part. And now that little piece of fiction is a reality.

Scientist John Underkoffler of Oblong Industries recently demonstrated his new software called G-Speak. Users wear a special glove to control information on a screen and sift through data. The program can also be used to enhance video-conferences by allowing people to share information from multiple devices such as smartphones and tablets.

Oblong CEO Kwin Kramer tells AFP, “We think the future of computing is multiuser, multiscreen, multidevice. This system helps with big workflow problems.”

The software will be used by businesses that need to sift through and analyze data. It can also be used by law enforcement agencies, but surely not to detect any pre crimes (at least not yet).
