Incredible photos of Earth from space

By | June 15, 2011, 6:52 PM PDT

While researching the iPhones in space story, I came across an article in the Guardian of London about the incredibly popular Flickr stream of the European Space Agency. Seen by tens of thousands of people, the agency displays photos of the International Space Station and the docked space shuttle Endeavour, shuttle launches and trainings.

But the most spectacular photos are its shots of Earth. I put together this gallery of the best ESA photos of our home planet, including images of some of the most memorable events of the last two years, such as “snowmaggedon,” the Iceland volcano (shown above) and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Enjoy.

Just goes to show how Americans are ignorant of their own space program
This article just goes to show how ignorant Americans are of their own space program. There's nothing incredible about these photos as compared to the tens of thousands of shots taken by the International Space Station and Shuttle. If you really want to see incredible, go visit NASA's web site. The European Space Agency has nothing over our very own NASA!

Don't worry, OMB00900
I know NASA has great shots. I'll get some for a future gallery.
