BOZEMAN — Expressing concern about America’s future, Mayor Jeff Krauss said, we need more people to get into science and need to inspire them to get their hands greasy.
The mayor is also finance director at the Museum of the Rockies. Krauss admits that some of his Republican supporters didn’t like that he has an office at a place that educates the public about evolution. Last week, I visited the mayor at the museum in Bozeman, Montana. Next to Krauss’ mayor certificate is a framed letter certificate showing off his former blue collar days as a carman for the railroad.
Two years ago, Krauss made national headlines when he approved the spending of federal stimulus money for rubber-tiled tennis courts. He’s not afraid to stand up for what he believes in, but isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty either. (He grows tomatoes outside his window in the summertime).
