Interactive tool offers exercises to beat depression

By | September 5, 2011, 3:18 PM PDT

An interactive program called Good Days Ahead offers virtual exercises to help users who may be suffering from depression.

The website states:

Good Days Ahead is an interactive e-learning program that will teach you how to apply the principles of cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) to overcome depression and anxiety.

CBT has been tested extensively and has been shown to be effective for a wide variety of emotional and behavioral issues, from anxiety and depression to smoking cessation, eating disorders, and insomnia.

Some of the highlights of the tool include:

  • Interactive videos
  • Quizzes
  • A checklist of symptoms to watch

Good Days Ahead offers users a trial version to sample the program. After that, users are asked to pay twenty dollars a month for unlimited use.

Share your thoughts in the comments below. Do you think Good Days Ahead should be free for users? Would you use Good Days Ahead on a trial basis?

Started Good Days Ahead - I'm Liking It
I started using the Good Days Ahead website and I like it. It is comprehensive but easy to grasp and understand. The first lesson and exercises were helpful and meaningful.

Sounds promising-
but the $20/month is depressing in itself. I can play online games, watch movies and manage all my bills free, so why wouldn't important info like this also be free?

I tried it, and while it seems overly simple, it actually helped me pinpoint a few negative thought patters that I didn't even know I had. Now I'm going to search for sites that offer this therapy free.

But...
...$20/month is cheaper than being on drugs.

here in New Zealand a you will get a years worth of drugs for a small fee of about $3.50. also drugs can do just as much harm as good without a program like this

There's more "cost" to being on meds than just the out-of-pocket expense.
There are side effects, both long and short-term. Then there is the reality of the recorded history; having a history of being medically treated for depression will follow you for the rest of your life, effecting everything from getting life insurance to jobs.

Anti-depressants kill
Young Living Essential Oil distributor here, and former recipient of psychotropic drugs in WI where you can be force medicated against your will to take these drugs knows the facts that anti-depressants kill. I live in OR now away from the back woods ignorant medical establishment of WI. NAMI is a drug company funded crock of crap that convinces people to swallow the idea that life can be fixed with a drug. Many of our essential oils do incredible things for mood. I don't agree that there are individual mentally ill people. Usually they come from a dysfunctional family, and the whole group needs therapy.
