MIT: working to reinvent the bus stop

By | December 21, 2009, 3:30 AM PST

Emerging from its history as a graffiti-laden rain shelter, the bus stop is on a path to turn from ugly duckling into a gorgeous and smart swan.

Researchers at MIT have designed the EyeStop, a smart shelter that tracks the busses progress, sells tickets and more. See for yourself in this special report from Sumi Das.

RE: MIT: working to reinvent the bustop
Our friends at MIT need to pay a visit to Curitiba, Brazil, where the bus stops already incorporate many of these features, plus multiple boarding points.

Curitiba, Brazil need visit from MIT designers
Tranman's comment above is correct - Curitiba's bus stops are awesome!

In fact in Brazil - only 1 out of 10 cars use gas any more.

We really should look to Brazil for new solutions that
have been implemented successfully.
