It’s graduation season. There’s a hint of mortarboard in the air. The repetitive chorus of “Pomp and Circumstance” floating across university quads. In times like these it’s easy to ignore the practicalities of graduation: the prospect of moving; the soon-to-be-due student loans; and the ever-elusive job.
In the 1967 film, The Graduate, it was “plastics” that was on everyone’s mind. Today, with the uncertain job market, it’s more difficult to point out the industry of the future. A more manageable challenge for the recent graduate is deciding on which city to live.
With this in mind, Rent.com recently put together a list of the Top 10 cities for college graduates. The figures, which compare median salary, unemployment data, and the average cost of a rental. Here are the metropolitan areas that made the list:
- Boston, Mass.
- Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.
- Seattle, Wa.
- Houston, Tx.
- Baltimore, Md.
- Dallas, Tx.
- Kansas City, Mo.
- Raleigh, N.C.
- Washington, D.C.
- Austin, Tx.
