If all goes according to plan, Uganda could be home to Africa’s tallest tower, according to the UK-based architecture firm Capita Symonds.
The firm unveiled plans for their 222-meter skyscraper to be built in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.
The 60-story tower, known as Kampala Tower, would offer over 1 million square feet of office and retail space for as many as 12,500 people.
The proposed tower will be competing with Johannesburg, South Africa’s Carlton Centre, which rises 222.5 meters. The building has owned the title of tallest building in Africa for 38 years. The Kampala Tower plan might want to add a meter or two to break what would be a virtual tie for Africa’s tallest building, though the 60-stories would be the most in Africa.
The plan is currently being reviewed by the Ugandan government.
