Anyone who does business with Wal-Mart, or any rival retailer for that matter, needs to get on the ball when it comes to the company's proposed sustainability index.

First of all, you can breathe a little easier: the project is likely to take five years to play out, according to a "Getting Ready for the Sustainability Index," webcast hosted by the team over at GreenBiz.com. Secondly, an organization called the Sustainability Consortium is going to be handling much of the work as a collaborative project, so there is plenty of opportunity to contribut opinions.

If you didn't know about the webcast, you can watch an archived version for the next 90 days by visiting this link.
