The World Economic Forum released the latest edition of their report on global information technology. Looking at 144 economies, the report ranks them based on their ability to "leverage ICT for growth and well-being." Here's a look at the top 10:
- United Kingdom
- United States
- Taiwan (China)
The report specifically looks at four criteria in the ranking: IT infrastructure; use of IT among governments, businesses, and individuals; the business and innovation environment; and the economic impact coming from IT.
The report shows that digitization has a measurable impact on economic growth and job creation. However, the report points out that the digital divide between developed and developing economies is becoming wider despite rapid adoption of mobile technology because of "environments that are insufficiently conducive to innovation and competitiveness."
