There's one flight which is simply 'always' late.
It's always frustrating when your flight is delayed. You miss the meeting or lose valuable holiday time -- and while no airline staff can tell you anything, you are left to gaze longingly at the departure board and hope for the best.
However, if you happen to be the unlucky passenger on the United Express Flight 4352 -- a 97-minute leap from Cincinnati to Newark -- you may want to bring an extra book or two while waiting for this flight; it's branded "chronically late" by the DOT.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, this 6 p.m. flight has the worst record across the country for arriving late. Even after changing its flight number five times to purge its poor record, passengers who often book on the flight know intimately that the service reflects its record -- being at least 30 minutes late on at least half of its scheduled days.
On average, flights are canceled less than two percent of the time. However, United's Flight 4352 has been punctual only 19 percent of the time, and has been cancelled seven percent of the time.
Newark is one of the most delayed airports in the United States. However, airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are able to choose which flights to delay, and often keep short-hops on the ground if flights are backed up -- much to the misery of passengers on flights like 4352.
Dan Sheehan, a passenger who commutes often using the flight, commented:
"It's horrible. I've flown it every Friday for the last three months and it's late 90 percent of the time. They always ask for my feedback and I can't keep coming up with worse words."
Flight 4352 was on the chronically delayed flight list seven out of 12 months in 2012.
