In this mini-documentary from faircompanies.com we meet Graham Hill (founder of Treehugger.com) and, more importantly, we get a tour of his amazing 420-square-foot apartment and learn how he's able to get the most out of his small living space.
Through innovative design, Hill was able to turn a 420-square-foot apartment in New York City into an apartment with the functionality of 1100-square-feet, more than double the living space. With pull-out walls, fold out beds, and other transformer-like design tricks he was able to turn one room into six. The video is a bit long, but definitely worth checking out to see all the cool features. It's a sight to behold.
With apartments in cities getting smaller (we see you San Francisco) and our world becoming more urban being able to use space in smart ways without giving up amenities you might get in a larger living space will become even more important. Hopefully design like this also becomes more common.
