The Morning Briefing: LED lighting

By | October 24, 2012, 11:51 PM PDT

“The Morning Briefing” is SmartPlanet’s daily roundup of must-reads from the web. This morning we’re reading about LED lighting uses and savings.

1.) LEDs will dominate lighting, expert predicts at Holonyak symposium. Energy-conscious consumers who’ve made the switch to fluorescent replacement bulbs may be swapping them out for a more efficient lighting system in a few years.

2.) Wi-Fi LED light bulbs: Gateway to the smart home? Greenwave Reality’s LEDs can be controlled from a smartphone. Will they sell because they’re cool or because they can save energy?

3.) LED lights help museum save energy, preserve items. A spectacular collection of original oil paintings by emeritus Indiana University art professor Barry Gealt are illuminated by clean, cool, white lights, while the other exhibits bask in a warm, yellowish glow.

4.) Seesmart LED lighting helps Cerebral Palsy in NY be LEED certified. LED lighting manufacturer Seesmart Technologies, Inc. has completed a $140,000 project with Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State that will help the organization’s new West Farms Center achieve LEED design certification.

5.) Hey there, LED lamp-post, whatcha saving? Shipments of LED street lighting will accelerate over the next seven years, but the motivation for installation isn’t just reduced energy consumption.

LED's
With a 50,000+ hour lifespan LED's are definitely worth the price.

A revolutionary system.
I'm completely fascinated by Led's,
The new effects they can give us in interior design is extraordinary and they are still in their infancy. Impossible to predict what they will do in the near future. On top of that they do not emit any heat. That sounds like magic.
