1.) Green investment bank officially launched by Vince Cable. Vince Cable, the U.K.’s business secretary, has officially marked the launch of the new green investment bank (GIB) by announcing funding of a new waste-to-energy plant and an energy saving scheme.

2.) In Australia, Oliver Yates is to head green investment bank. The Clean Energy Finance Corporation’s (CEFC) board announced Mr Yates’ appointment as the organisation’s inaugural chief executive on Sunday.

The GIB needs to be bigger
The GIB needs to be bigger. Luckily, along side it are significant new 'people powered' investment platforms that enable regular people to invest in the largest and most profitable renewable energy projects. These may be just what is required to tip the balance towards clean energy for the UK.

Is "green" only alternative energy?
Pollution cleanup and control is the real issue, but somehow the discussion gets censored by limiting "green" to alternative energy and energy efficiency. What about water pollution -- why is that not "green"?
