1.) Tax rise at Heathrow and Gatwick "will force flyers to use provincial airports." Radical plans to raise taxes at overburdened airports in the south-east of England would encourage passengers to switch to other airports, according to official research commissioned by British Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs.
2.) Aviation goes high-tech: Now use soft copy of tickets to enter airport. After railways, aviation will now allow air travellers to enter airports by showing a soft copy of their tickets on their smart-phones, tablets and laptops.
3.) Report: Business aircraft to fuel GA growth. A year-end report and forecast from the Aerospace Industries Association is upbeat on the prospects for the general aviation industry in 2013 and beyond.
4.) Atlanta airport leads nation in guns confiscated. Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport once again leads the nation in the number of guns confiscated at security checkpoints. The number reached 100 in 2012, and that concerns some travelers.
5.) Asian century aviation challenges: Innovative planes, new fuels, reduce weight. The aviation industry is going through a turbulent time, leading it to look at a wide range of technologies and alternative fuels as ways for airlines to lower costs and improve efficiency.
