A new cancer treatment facility is due to be built in Louisiana through an agreement between IBA and Philips.
Reuters reports that the Belgian cancer treatment equipment maker has signed a deal worth $40 million for the installation to be built.
Using equipment including lighting provided by electronics maker Philips, the treatment facility will be based in Shreveport, northern Louisiana, as part of the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center.
The new treatment room will be aimed at promoting patient relaxation during proton treatments by “permitting patients to selectively add comforting light, sound and images to the treatment room environment before they begin therapy,” according to IBA.
The $40 million project will be taking its first patients in 2014.
