How to drive the Tesla Model S without $70,000
It's the most highly-acclaimed car of the year. And now you don't need $70,000 to drive a Tesla Model S.
The secret? Make a trip to San Francisco or Los Angeles.
That's because the all-electric car -- named "automobile of the year" earlier this year -- is now available for rent through Hertz at airports in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Still, it won't be a cheap ride. $500 will get you a day in one of the five Model S cars available, according to Bloomberg.
"Should customer demand warrant it, we will consider expanding availability to other locations," Hertz spokeswoman Paula Rivera told CNN.
That could be the case as Tesla continues to expands its Supercharger fast-charging network exclusively for Tesla drivers.
For everyone else not looking for a luxury electric car or a high-priced rental, Tesla is looking to build a cheaper, long-range electric car for around $30,000, you'll just have to wait a bit.
