Happy shopping: Google Maps now includes store floor plans

Posting in Technology

Black Friday madness has come and gone, but the holiday shopping season has only just begun. Thankfully, Google is now offering up a way to make those future trips to the mall as pain-free as possible.

The tech giant recently unveiled maps of 10,000 indoor locations around the world, providing the floor plans for retail stores, airports and more.

The indoor floor plans have already been available to Android users for some time, but the maps have just recently become available to anyone with a Web browser.

“Simply zoom in on a building on Google Maps and you’ll automatically see a detailed floor plan with helpful labels for gates at the airport, stores within the mall, departments within a retail shop, as well as ATMS, restrooms and more,” the company said on a Google+ post.

Google is also allowing retail and venue owners to add their own floor plans to the system. See a list of participating locations here.
