Google plows $75M into another clean energy project

I would like to see the whole grid mapped out to see just where and when power is put into the grid - and what happens to the necessary excess.
Until power can be stored and retrieved efficiently, then 'green' power cannot influence the reduction in CO2 and other nasties (which never get mentioned), simply because the massive base generators must continue regardless of input of 'green' power.
My bet would be to direct money toward Thorium based generation* and also the efficient means of electricity storage and release.
Only when that is achieved can any 'green' power have any truly positive effect in a grid situation.
*Australia alone has enough easily accessible Thorium to power the WHOLE world for 18,000 years with truly clean and cheap and safe energy - so why bother with fans etc?
With all the growth in the field of wind power its time to come up with a solution to save birds from being killed by the big blades. It should be very easy, be it sound waves, lights or what ever. The death toll on our Bald Eagles in 2013 is unacceptable, hundreds, other birds are dying by the thousands everyday.
