General Motors is not having the best year to inspire consumer trust in its cars, as the company issues its 29th recall notice this year in the United States.

The automaker is recalling another 2.42 million vehicles due to a variety of problems -- and the latest notice, the company's 29th this year in the United States, is expected to cost the company in excess of $400 million in Q2 -- in addition to $200 million in costs announced earlier this month.

The affected vehicles are below:

- 1.34 million Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia full-size crossovers (2009-2014) and Saturn Outlooks (2009-2010). Front lap belt cables "can fatigue and separate over time."

- 1.08 million 4-speed automatic transmission Chevrolet Malibu (2004-2008), and the Pontiac G6 (2005-2008). Shift cable problems have caused 18 accidents and one injury, according to GM.

- 1,402 2015 Cadillac Escalades and Escalade ESVs, due to partial airbag deployment problems. In addition, 58 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD full-size pickups are being recalled due to a possible fire hazard caused by faulty lights.

This will be GM's 29th recall, and follows the recall of 2.6 million cars equipped with faulty ignition switches believed to be the cause of 13 deaths. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) fined the automaker a record $35 million for failing to act quickly enough in fixing the ignition switches.
