Honda will add Apple’s Siri Eyes Free Mode into its 2013 Accord, Acura RDX and Acura ILX, becoming the second automaker behind General Motors to integrate the voice-assistant software to its vehicles.
Siri Eyes Free–which allows drivers to interact with their iPhone while keeping their focus on the road, where it should be–will be a dealer installed option in the models, Honda said. The automaker has engineered its software to integrate Siri Eyes Free Mode into its Bluetooth Hands Free Link via the onboard microphone and speakers.
GM was the first automaker to announce plans to add Siri to some of its cars. The company plans to integrate Siri into two of its new smaller, budget Chevrolet models–the Spark and Sonic.
Other automakers are preparing to follow suit. At the World Wide Developers Conference in June, Apple said Siri would be installed in cars made by Toyota, GM, Merecedes, BMW, Honda, Audi, Chrysler, Land Rover and Jaguar.
