Sun, Oracle, Veritas to unveil software stacks

On Monday, Sun Microsystems will unveil, along with partners Oracle and storage vendor Veritas, its plans for offering customers "software stacks." Sun President Ed Zander offered early details on the pending announcement earlier this week, when he spoke at Sun's iForce 2000 partner conference in San Diego.

On Monday, Sun Microsystems will unveil, along with partners Oracle and storage vendor Veritas, its plans for offering customers "software stacks." Sun President Ed Zander offered early details on the pending announcement earlier this week, when he spoke at Sun's iForce 2000 partner conference in San Diego. Zander told attendees that Sun (sunw) is planning to offer integrated stacks tailored for particular vertical markets -- similar to the way telecommunications companies offer integrated hardware-software platforms to their customers.
