I loved John Dodge's article on (not) buying computers.

Exactly one year ago, I bought a Micron PentiumPro 200/32/3.1 with MS Office for $2,900. Last night, my daughter in business school decided she needed a computer. She got a Pentium II 233/32/4 with MS Office for $1779 from Gateway 2000, including a monitor. This is almost exactly what my other daughter paid for a Dell P200MMX about two months ago.

If you run out the trend line, by January, 2001, they're going to be paying us to take the things. Just as an aside, I also checked Apple. Their cheapest machine, without Office, was $1999.

Thanks again for a great article.
