Our purpose in life is simple -- deliver news, reviews and tools to make it easier to create a greener and fairer world. We're passionate about new products and services that cut carbon emissions, make global trade more equitable and preserve environmental resources. Especially if the organic t-shirt or electric car in question looks nice too.
Like life, we're varied. We don't just cover eco holidays or green gadgets in isolation, we comprehensively cover ten channels in News and eight in Reviews, including beauty, business, fashion, finance, food, household (interiors and gardens), leisure and travel, people, tech and transport. While we cover business news, our focus is on consumer lifestyles.
We don't believe in buying green and ethical just because it's the right thing to do. We think it's the smart thing to do -- the products are often better designed, usually better for your health and wealth, and always better for the planet. With that in mind, we rate stuff in the round, scoring it on quality, value, ethics and its eco impact. Learn more on our How We Rate Products page.
We know buying and living green can be confusing. Where once there was one organic coffee, today there are dozens. We're here to look beyond the hype and the buzz words, read the reports, weigh up the evidence and steer you to the smart choice.
It's a grandiose aim, but we believe millions of small changes add up to a very big change. If we can persuade thousands of people to switch to eco kettles and buy Fairtrade food, we think we'll make a far bigger impact than by switching just one street to living off-grid, growing its own veg and wearing hemp sandals.
Our expert writing team combines authority and specialist knowledge with a wink and a sense of humour. We'll never preach, green-guilt or use jargon. As well as our in-house editorial team, we employ a freelance team of green journalists who also work for national newspapers, magazines and websites. We're backed up by experienced sales, business and technical teams.
Our prestigious Editorial Board comprises green and ethical-living experts who bring guidance, authority and experience to SmartPlanet.
The board gets together annually to discuss philosophical and practical issues to guide our editorial, as well as communicating by email throughout the year.
